Looks like it’s going to be a very busy time ahead – should I give up blogging?

Monday April 7th, 2008 by fathersez

These thoughts have been running through my mind a lot lately. The goat farm is about to start and the Indonesian project also seems set to take up quite a bit of my time. Should I give up my blog?

Luckily (for me), good sense prevailed and I reminded myself to revisit the motivation behind the blog.

Starting this blog has been the single best thing that I have ever done towards self improvement. In fact, I strongly recommend that anyone who seeks to turbo charge their self development in any area of their life to start their own blog

The blog has also now become a channel of communication between my elder girls and me. Through the blog, I have been able to update and inform my girls on the mistakes I have made in life and what they should do so as not to repeat them.

The younger children have also started being more responsible now that their activities and (antics) are put up on the blog.

So am I going to stop? No way!  Perhaps there may be a number of 16 – 18 hour days, maybe some missed posting days, but I am just going to plod on.

That is good to hear! Blogging, as you said, is wonderful for self-improvement. It’s near the top of my list for why I keep doing it.

I’m happy to hear that for me, since I enjoy reading. And for you, because I think you get a lot out of this blog. However we know you’re busy so we won’t expect “perfection.” I don’t even know what perfect blogging would be…it’s so unique.

Hi, Mrs. M,

It seems that Lily of the Honest Dollar has decided to call it quits, due to time constraints. It’s sad as she writes well and thoughtfully.

Now that I have my motivation clear in my mind again, I’ll just keep on plodding.

Thank you for your encouragement.

I agree with you 100% - blogging is a very useful tool for self reflection & improvement! I started my blog to help me sort through all the life changes I have been going through these last couple of years. It has kind of been like therapy & a support group all rolled into one.

I also came close to deleting my blog about a week ago. With all the activity and responsibilities of Spring - I felt like it was an unnecessary burden. Then I realized I needed to re-frame my thinking & give myself some breathing room. I realized it is o.k. to not be a “perfect” blogger & just do my best. My advice is to keep your blog alive & enjoy it! Use it as best it can fit into your life.

Good Fortune with your farm & project - I can’t wait to hear more about them!!!

Hello, Dawn.

Thank you for your encouraging words. Yes, blogging can be such a chore, if its seen just as one. Actually it’s a lot more than that, like you pointed out.

I have enjoyed and benefitted from the many words of wisdom of other bloggers and I doubt I would read that many blogs, if I were to stop blogging.

And the farm…My wife, kids and I are so excited about it. I look forward to writing more on the farm soon.

Best Regards
